Understanding Your Limiting Beliefs

The power of your subconscious mind is often underestimated, yet it plays a crucial role in our lives. It shapes our beliefs, influences our behaviour, and ultimately determines our level of success and happiness.

1. Your Subconscious Mind: An Untapped Resource

Your subconscious mind is like a vast reservoir of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions that are taken in as children and stored beneath the surface of our conscious awareness, While it shapes our reality and influences our actions many of us are unaware of its existence and the impact it has on our lives, our emotional intelligence and our resilience.

2. Understanding Your Subconscious Mind's Role in Overcoming Limiting Beliefs

Limiting beliefs are negative beliefs that hold us back from achieving our goals and living our best lives. They often stem from past experiences, societal conditioning, or self-doubt and more than often come from our childhood. Let's say as a youngster you wanted a jelly bean but it was close to tea time and your mum said "No."One child might not be worried by this and think that's Ok while another might be emotionally charged and think " I can't get what i want."

Believing "I can't get what I want"means that the person goes through their life wondering why they can never achieve what they set out to get no matter how trivial or important it is to them. Can you imagine how frustrating this is to them? And yet when they let go of this belief from their subconscious mind their life changes and they can achieve.

it is important to identify and acknowledge subconscious beliefs so that they can be released or changed into something positive. To find them, look at patterns that are happening in your life or statements that you make. Often the 'throw away line' or an ache in the body is a strong indication of something held in the subconscious mind that it thinks is worse than the pain. The pain deflects us from the thing the mind is holding on to. Take some time to reflect on these statements or patterns and you will soon identify those that are hindering you.

3. Reprogramming Your Subconscious Mind

Once you have identified your limiting belief, it is time to reprogram your subconscious mind. First though you need to get more information about the belief

Ask yourself:

a) why you have the belief

b) what age you were when you took in this belief

c) what impact it is having on your life now

You can then release the belief by imagining it floating out to the sun to be destroyed. Because your subconscious mind cannot judge, it can only react, it will obey you and as you imagine it burning up, will release it.

4. The Power of Affirmations to Overcome Your Limiting Beliefs

Affirmations are positive statements that you repeat to yourself regularly. you can also write them out a minimum of 10 times. They help to rewire your subconscious mind by replacing negative thoughts with positive ones.

For example, say you have a limiting belief that you are 'not good enough" and this is undermining everything you want to do and achieve. One technique you can use is to say 'I am good enough"so that your subconscious mind ( which does not believe you are good enough) contradicts you, and throws up negatives thoughts, beliefs and emotions that you need to let go of. As you hear each negative send it out to the sun to be destroyed. Then when there are no more negatives forthcoming, you can say "I am good enough"and your mind will believe it.

Another technique is to say "I am feeling more worthy" so your mind will accept it and work towards your being more worthy. Each time you do this your mind has a new starting point of worthiness until you finally get to 'I am worthy' and know your mind believes it.

By consistently affirming these positive statements, you can gradually reprogram your subconscious mind and overcome limiting beliefs.

4. Visualization for Success

Visualization is a powerful technique that involves creating vivid mental images of your desired outcomes. By visualising yourself already achieving your goals, you send a clear message to your subconscious mind about what you want to manifest in your life.

Your subconscious mind only thinks in the present time so your visualisation must be as if you already have the thing or life you want. If you visualise it in the future you will never get it, because it is always in the future and never the present.

Your mind will also show you any negatives you have which you can then release..

The more detailed and vivid your visualisation and the more the emotional charge it has, the more powerful its impact on your subconscious mind.

You can also create a timeline back from the endpoint listing all the things you need to achieve and when you need to achieve them. Then if you start at the beginning and take each action you have listed in turn you will meet your goal.

5. Consistency and Patience

Reprogramming the subconscious mind can take time and consistency however

I personally like to identify the negative thoughts, beliefs and emotions first, send them out to the sun to be destroyed and then program in positive thoughts. This way I speed up the process and can change my subconscious mind in minutes rather than days or weeks.
